Features
Electrical calculations
- Required wire size per NEC® Tables 310-16 and 310-17 — copper or aluminum, 3ø or 1ø, 60°C/75°C/90°C insulation, 100% or 125% ampacity
- Wire-size adjustments for ambient temperatures other than 30°C and for more than three wires in a raceway
- Voltage drop: minimum wire size, maximum run length for a specified drop, and actual volts/percentage dropped
- Conduit sizing for 12 conduit types — recommended size for #THW, #XHHW, and #THHN combinations, plus fill percentages and areas
- Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Law calculations
- Motor full-load amps — 1ø, 3ø, synchronous, and DC motors per NEC® 430-247, 430-248, and 430-250
- Fuse and breaker sizing per NEC® 430-52; overload protection per NEC® 430-32
- Service and equipment grounding conductor sizes per NEC® 250-66 and 250-122
- NEMA starter sizes per ICS 2-1988
- Parallel and derated wire sizing; parallel resistance
- Power factor and motor efficiency
- Convert between amps, watts, volts, VA, kVA, kW, PF%, efficiency %, and DC resistance
- BTU ↔ kilowatt-hour conversion; circular mils for wire sizes
- NEC® table references displayed with wire-size results
- Works as a standard math calculator
- Quick, easy updates for future NEC® code revisions

Frequently asked questions
How do I access help within the app?
Press the Menu button, then the Help icon. For help on a specific key or function, press and hold the key for 1–2 seconds (for a shift function, press [Shift] first, then press and hold the primary key).
Where do the formulas and values come from?
Calculations are based on requirements taken straight from the NEC® code books, plus fundamental formulas such as Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Law — saving you the manual table lookups and hand calculations.
Where do I set the wire type for conduit calculations?
Press the [Wire Type] button and a pop-up appears to select #THW, #XHHW, or #THHN.
Where do I set the wire insulation rating (60, 75, 90°C)?
Press [Shift] then [5] — the button is labeled "Wire Temp."
Is Electrical Calc Elite available for iPhone?
Yes — it runs on iPhone and iPad, as well as Android phones and tablets.
